Basic InformationPart Name: Whirlpool Dryer TimerManufacturer: WhirlpoolCategory: Dryer PartsPrimary Function: Controls electrical components and the duration of the dryer cycles. Installation & CompatibilityCompatible Models: Fits various Whirlpool appliance models; please confirm this part is correct for your model before ordering. Installation Difficulty: Medium — requires basic technical skills and the ability to use a multimeter for testing. Tools Required: Multimeter, screwdriver, work gloves Additional Information: This dryer timer (part number WP3398190) is designed to replace the outdated model 3398190. It is key to managing the electrical components that determine cycle length. If your electric dryer timer advances in the timed dry cycle but not in the automatic moisture sensing cycle, it may be due to a faulty resistor. Before replacing the timer, unplug the dryer and check the continuity through the resistor using a multimeter. The resistor is connected to the timer via the orange wire. Should you measure infinite resistance, you may need to replace the resistor with part number 279872. However, if replacing the resistor does not resolve the issue, replacing the timer WP3398190 is recommended. Safety Tip: Always unplug the dryer before attempting installation or troubleshooting, and wear work gloves to protect your hands. | Whirlpool Dryer Timer WP3398190 6.00 x 5.00 x 4.00 Genuine OEM
