Basic InformationPart Name: Lawn Tractor Extension SpringManufacturer: MTDCategory: Lawn TractorPrimary Function: Provides tension in the drive system of the lawn tractorInstallation & CompatibilityCompatible Models: Fits various MTD and Troybilt lawn tractor models. Please confirm this part is correct for your model before ordering. Installation Difficulty: Medium — may require intermediate mechanical skills and understanding of lawn tractor assemblies. Tools Required: Screwdriver set, pliers Additional Information: The MTD lawn tractor extension spring helps maintain proper tension in the drive system, supporting smooth operation as the tractor moves across uneven ground. This spring absorbs and stores energy, allowing connected components to function with consistent pressure while the tractor is in use. If your lawn tractor has trouble moving, makes unusual noises, or cuts unevenly, a worn or stretched extension spring could be the cause. Replacing the spring can restore proper tension and help the drive system perform as intended. Before installing the new spring, turn off the tractor and place it on a level surface. Always wear work gloves and follow your owner's manual for guidance. A properly functioning extension spring helps keep your lawn tractor operating smoothly and efficiently.
