Accurate tooth engagement helps support smooth power transfer and consistent drive performance. If the snowblower slips, loses drive, or makes grinding or clicking noises from the drivetrain, the pinion gear may be worn, chipped, or damaged. Uneven tooth wear or visible damage can also affect how well the gear meshes. Before starting the repair, disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Install the pinion gear in the correct orientation and confirm it meshes smoothly with mating components before reassembling the drive system.
