This pump housing spacer for a built-in dishwasher is a plate that keeps the upper impeller and lower impeller from hitting each other. Installing the parts from a replacement lower impeller kit at the same time as the pump housing spacer is recommended. Unplug the dishwasher before beginning to make the repair. Be aware that some water will remain in sump after you run the machine and disconnect the power. That water can leak out while you work on the dishwasher.
