Under standard conditions, replace the pad once per heating season (ideally in the fall before turning on your furnace). If you have hard water or heavy usage, replace it 1 to 2 times per season (every 3 to 4 months) as mineral build-up can block airflow. Can I wash or clean the GA570 humidifier pad instead of replacing it? No. The pad is treated with a specialized non-toxic coating that evenly distributes water. Washing the pad strips away this coating and crushes the aluminum mesh, permanently reducing the humidifier's efficiency. Which humidifier models use the GA570 vapor pad? The GA570 pad is engineered specifically for the GeneralAire Model 570 bypass-style whole-home humidifier (requires 1 pad per unit). Is this the same part as GeneralAire 7900? Yes. The GA570 is also known and cataloged under part number 7900.
